With her family, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong mourns the loss of Ms. Elizabeth C. Aguilar. She was a quintessential Lourdesian educator: an academician, PAASCU accreditor, educational leader, curriculum expert, and well-known textbook author. A thoroughbred Lourdesian formator, she started as a teacher in 1982 in LSQC where she eventually became a long-time Filipino Coordinator. She transferred to LSM in 2001 beginning as Filipino Coordinator before serving as HS Assistant Principal for Academics, Assistant Principal for SHS, and HS Principal. Ms. Beth, as her peers fondly called her, was among those pillars who trained, formed, and led–with reassuring, steady guidance–the generation of Lourdesian educators, administrators, and students during the crucial transition to the K-12 program. Not merely her memory but her legacy shall echo for years to come.
In her last years, she struggled with terminal illness with unwavering grace, peace, dignity, and faith. She was undaunted in her service and love for Lourdes School, allowing herself to take a bow only when her state of health absolutely dictated it. She never lost the joy behind her smiling eyes. Well done, sister!
She passed on to her eternal reward at the early hours of the Feast of Mary’s Assumption. We are consoled by the thought that, just as the Gospel for the day proclaims, the Blessed Virgin had visited Elizabeth. We commend Ms. Beth to Our Lady’s kindness.
