As the end of the school year approaches, the Senior High School Department held its culminating program LAKBAY 7.0. This yearly event is a way for the kuyas of the school to showcase to the Lourdesian community the various learnings, skills, and experiences they have picked up as they step ever closer to college and professional life.
This yearβs LAKBAY had the theme βCelebrating Lourdesian Excellence β Forging the Future through Innovation, Christian Leadership, and Purposeful Actionβ. Aligned with this, the Grade 11 and 12 students held various activities centered on developing their professional skills as well as giving the younger masters a taste of Senior High School life.
Last Thursday, April 3, a career convention was held for the Senior High School students giving them an opportunity to listen, interact, and ask various Sons of Lourdes working in different fields about their chosen profession. Afterwards, a Technical Writing Symposium was held to help develop their communication and writing, essential professional skills. Not to miss out, the Junior High School students also had their Inter-Strand Quiz Bee testing their knowledge across the various strands.
The next day, the two departments met through the Strand Show and Exhibit. Here, Junior High School students went around the various Senior High School classrooms as their kuyas served as their tour guides, letting them see what life is like in the upper grade. The young masters engaged in various activities, each showcasing the different worlds of STEM, ABM, GA, and HUMSS, helping them decide the path they will take in the future.
Finally, on Tuesday, April 8, the Grade 11 and 12 students showed their prowess in research through the Research Colloquium and Pitch Presentation. Here, their research papers were presented, criticized, and defended, highlighting the importance of scientific discovery and innovation. Prior to this, a Mock Job Interview was held to allow students to speak with various out-of-school professionals to help them experience what it is like to apply for a job. This tested their skills in speaking as well as selling themselves to the companies that align with their interests and goals.
May this yearβs LAKBAY help our SHS brothers learn and prepare for the next stage of their careers, and may it also help our JHS masters discern the path they will be taking soon.
