September 17 | Feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi

800th Anniversary of the Stigmata of the Poverello (Poor Man) of Assisi (1224-2024)

Today, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong joins the entire Franciscan Family around the world in celebrating the Feast of the Stigmata of our Seraphic Father, St. Francis of Assisi, marking the 800th anniversary of this sacred event. St. Francis received the Stigmata at Mt. La Verna in 1224, two years before his death, bearing the wounds of Christ in his own body—a profound testament to his deep and complete union with Christ’s love and sacrifice.

As we contemplate this momentous occasion in our faith journey, may Lourdesians everywhere draw deep inspiration from St. Francis’ example—leading with humility, selflessness, and unwavering faith. Let us embody his spirit as devoted men of prayer and brothers to all, embracing Christ in those who are struggling, the least, the last, and the lost. Together, let us strive for holiness and boldly proclaim the transformative power of choosing Christ, guiding our lives toward eternal life. Pax et bonum!
